Free Full-Day Pre-K: The most praised aspect of Hoboken on Reddit is that the city offers free, full-day Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4.
Hoboken High School: This is the most fiercely debated topic. The high school’s ratings on public school ranking websites are generally not top-tier, but alumni and current parents fiercely defend the school online (pointing out its robust AP courses and extracurriculars)
School Board Drama:A few years ago, the Hoboken school district proposed a $241 million referendum to build a state-of-the-art high school, which was ultimately voted down by residents.
Community
Hoboken Arts & Music Festival: Held every spring and fall, Washington Street (the main avenue) is completely shut down to traffic. It features hundreds of crafters, food from local businesses, and multiple stages with live music.
Movies Under the Stars: During the summer at Pier A Park, residents bring picnic blankets, snacks, and (discreetly) some wine to sit on the lawn and watch free movies on a big screen with the Manhattan skyline as the backdrop.
The Controversial Bar Crawls: These events are essentially massive, town-wide bar crawls for young people.
